The camp site is mainly inhabited by illegal immigrants from english speaking Africa, it occupies an adandoned military airstrip and is dotted with metal shipping containers which under the hot sun of Puglia become like ovens making it very diffcult to livin. Besides the containers, some brick buildings have been used as public toilets with running water. Irony of 'fate', the camp is located right on the borders of a reception center for asylum seekers (CARA) subsidized by the state: a prison in which the condition of the detainees is considerably better than that of 'free' illegals.
